Weight Loss Surgery Kent was founded in 2013 by Mr Ahmed Hamouda, an experienced Consultant General and Bariatric Surgeon.
We know how difficult losing weight is. In modern life the odds are stacked against us from the beginning. Our patients have tried all the diets, exercises and other methods to lose weight, but have been unsuccessful because life just gets in the way.

Mr Ahmed Hamouda
Consultant Bariatric Surgeon & Director of Weight Loss Surgery Kent
Mr Ahmed Hamouda Is the Director of Weight Loss Surgery Kent and Lead Bariatric Surgeon for the company. He is a Consultant Surgeon in General Surgery & Bariatrics, he previously worked as a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at Maidstone/Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust since 2010.
His specialist interest is laparoscopic and minimally invasive Bariatric techniques which include sleeve gastrectomy, gastric band, balloon and gastric bypass. He has extensive surgical experience consolidated both in the UK and abroad in treating conditions such as obesity, gall stone disease and reflux surgery.
Mr Hamouda qualified as a medical doctor in 1992. He then undertook a residency programme in general surgery and was appointed to a university lectureship post due to his outstanding academic achievements.
Mr Hamouda successfully applied for post-doctoral sub-speciality training in open competition and was awarded a grant to pursue this. He completed a full SpR training rotation in South West Thames London Deanery.
Mr Hamouda was awarded a laparoscopic biliary fellowship in Glasgow for a year, involving advanced laparoscopic interventions, including complex laparoscopic cholecystectomies and bile duct explorations. Following the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training, Mr Ahmed Hamouda successfully completed an advanced bariatric fellowship in a Centre of Bariatric Excellence, offering laparoscopic bands, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass.
As a member of BOMSS, he has also published widely in his field and participates in annual conferences.
He continues to be at the forefront of advances within the speciality of weight loss surgery by performing the first endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty procedures in Kent and is developing this service as part of his comprehensive offering.
